CASPer the Test Prep

Comparison

CASPer Test Prep Tools, Compared

Side-by-side on the features that matter: framework coverage, AI feedback quality, video simulation, scenario libraries, responsive mobile/tablet use, and pricing. We include this site so you can judge our claims directly.

Why we built this

Most CASPer prep tools either show you a video timer, or sell static feedback. Few do both well: real test-like UI plus structured, dimension-level AI critique that tells you what to fix and how. Even fewer let you choose the framework that matches how you think.

We built six frameworks (I3P, PPRDJ, CARE, ARC, IGT, STAR), per-dimension rewrites, and a quartile band that mirrors how Acuity actually reports scores — all in one tool.

Comparison data below reflects publicly listed features at time of writing. Things change — check each tool directly.

Where we differ in detail

Six frameworks, your choice

I3P, PPRDJ, CARE, ARC, IGT, and STAR — pick the lens that matches how you think. AI critique grades you against the framework you pick, not a single one-size-fits-all rubric. Most tools either ignore frameworks or lock you into one proprietary system.

Per-dimension rewrites

Most tools tell you “add empathy.” We tell you what sentence to add. Every dimension on every response includes a one-line paste-in rewrite generated from your actual answer.

Quartile band scoring

Real CASPer scores are reported as Q1–Q4 quartile bands. We score on the underlying 1-9 practice scale, then surface the matching quartile band with school-competitiveness context, so practice scores translate directly to how test day will be reported. The /9 score is separate from the ten CASPer competencies.

Anchored to weak / strong examples

Every scenario ships with a weak and a strong example. We pass both to the grading model as anchors, so scores stay consistent across attempts instead of drifting.

AI transcription for Video Response

Video Response attempts are transcribed with AI and graded on the same rubric as typed. Most competitors only time the recording.

Scripted future stimuli

Selected Video Response scenarios ship with a structured pre-prompt brief: setting, persons (age, dress, demeanor), situation, and narrator line — so the reflect window feels like a real proctored stimulus, not a plain text card.

Max speak-to-answer + typing tutor

Max members can dictate typed responses with browser-native speech recognition. The built-in Typing Tutor (12 CASPer-themed passages, 30/60/120s drills) builds the WPM you need to free up thinking time on test day.

Optimized for mobile and tablets

The same web app works across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers, so practice, review, dashboard progress, and account tools stay in one place across screen sizes.

Adaptive next drill

The dashboard tracks your average score per framework dimension across the last 10 attempts and routes you to the scenario type that most often surfaces your weakest dimension.

220+ original scenarios

220+ scenarios across ethical, personal, policy, and teamwork — typed and Video Response formats. Tagged with key features (multi-stakeholder, vulnerable party, authority conflict). New scenarios added regularly. Compare to most prep tools at 40–100.

Single-session enforcement

One account = one active session. Signing in elsewhere signs out the previous device. Keeps Max pricing honest without DRM friction.
